I'll address Elikiteru ( fav.me/d64x2op ) first. Electric/Normal Type. Interesting. For what purpose does it serve for the Normal to come as secondary? It would make a lot more sense for it to come as Normal/Electric like Bibarel, Sawsbuck, etc. And it's an odd design, too. Truth be told, it looks like something my little sister could come up with. It's pretty cute, I guess. It's my least favorite of all the new X and Y Pokemon, but I want a doll of it regardless. Anyway, it's design is so... how do I say this, subtle? I've seen a few points about it. For example, people think that the way it's ears(?) hang down make it resemble a Samurai's hat. However, I see something different. To me, Elikiteru appears to be wearing a head band; that is to say one that people have to literally tie on and let the straps hang down. Those types of head bands are often referred to as ones people wear when fighting. Personally, I think the reason Normal is it's secondary type is because upon evolving, it might turn into a dual Electric/Fighting Pokemon. The Pokemon's main focus is using Solar Power and recreating it into Electricity. Having it Normal/Electric would make it evolve into a Fighting/Electric Pokemon, where as since Fighting is the Primary Type, it would be mostly a Fighting Pokemon. However, with Normal as secondary, it can evolve into an Electric/Fighting Pokemon, where Electric is Primary, and it can still be Fighting Type while keeping the main focus of Electric Type. Why it isn't pure Electric Type then beats me. Anyway, that's just my opinion on it. If it evolves into this big Electric/Fighting Lizard Pokemon, I'm going to have to use it. Electric/Fighting is one of my favorite Type Combinations.

EDIT 1 - Elikiteru ain't no egyptian hat.

EDIT 2 - I just came to a realization... X and Y are said to be either based around Genetics or X and Y coordinates... Well, I just made a discovery. Elikiteru's new move is Parabola Charge. For you Algebra geeks out there, you may be aware that a Parabola is a shape that can be made on an XY Grid using an equation. Elikiteru's ears(?) hang down and are pointed to look like arrows... it's head is a freakin' Parabola. I'm more in favor of the Genetics Theme Theory, but this is a pretty substantial discovery in favor of the X and Y Coordinate Theory.

Okay, now for Sylveon. Today on Pokemon Smash, they finally met Sylveon in the Eevee and Friends Segment. Curious as to what Type it is, and with Sylveon being reluctant to tell them, they decided to give it some tests to determine it's type. They did three Tests, ruling out three types as to what Sylveon won't be; Fighting, Steel, and Poison. Sylveon will not be any of those types. That leaves it to be either Normal, Flying, Dragon, Bug, Rock, Ground, Ghost, or a New Type. I was disappointed that Sylveon didn't show up in Corocoro today. My only hope is that whoever posted today's scans are just being trolls and saving the juicy parts that everyone wants for later. I don't want a New Type. I'm open to the idea, but I think the games would be better off sticking to the current type chart. Adding a Type five Generations in seems really unlikely to me. If it does happen, though, it's not going to be Light Type. Psychic covers all Light Type possibilities, so that argument is invalid and I shall not discuss it further. I'm personally hoping Sylveon is either Dragon or Flying Type, but I'm open to whatever type it is. What do you think?

EDIT 3 - If a New Type does come into existence, I don't think it's going be Fairy Type. I don't think it's going to be Light Type, Sound Type, Space Type, Dog Type, etc. No, it's going to be something different. Pokemon X and Y are introducing a Bonding System, correct? Well if so, Sylveon looks like the perfect Pokemon to test this out with. So you, the Trainer, in order to obtain a Sylveon, must bond with your Eevee to the point of being physically in love. That's right, I'm talking about a Love Type. Keep in mind that it probably won't be named that, but maybe something else. A lot of Pokemon, but not too much, would be effected by this Type Change. I say probably only Jigglypuff, Wigglytuff, Chansey, Jynx, Igglybuff, Smoochum, Blissey, Skitty, Delcatty, Luvdisc, Buneary, Lopunny, Happiny, Audino, Minccino, and Cinccino would be retyped; moves like Attract, Sweet Kiss, and Captivate (and more) would all be switched to Love Type moves. Love Type could be Weak to Poison (poisoned love would be like someone interfering in a relationship), and Fighting (this seems like going a little out there, but maybe it could represent the relationships that end in violence? Or as Kyuzeth said, Fighting for ones love?). So Love Type would make sense with yesterday's confirmation of Sylveon not being Fighting, Steel, or Poison. So why would I think of this? Well the realization of the Bond System hit me, and so did something else. If you watch the Unova Pokemon Anime, you might know that a lot of Pokemon have been seen knowing Attract lately... for example, Ash's Snivy knows Attract, and so does Bianca's Minccino, both Iris' and Elesa's Emolga, and even Bianca's Emboar knows it. That's a lot of Attract! Why would they be pushing that on us? It's simple; They're pushing a Love Type. Again, I don't think it's going to be named that, but if it is I won't mind. Honestly, though, I don't want a new Type. I'm open to the idea, and I will embrace it normally, but I don't truly want it. Like I said above, the Typing Chart is already balanced as it is, and doesn't need an extra added type. (Although, there currently are only 17, so adding one would make an even 18...). But, if there is going to be a new Type, I hope it's Love. Sylveon would make an awesome Love Type Pokemon. :)

EDIT 4 - Also, don't forget that Sylveon was internationally revealed on Valentines Day. :) Also, the main color scheme the seem to be going with is Pink for it, which is an internationally recognized color for Love. Oh, and Sylveons ears are kind of shaped like hearts.

EDIT 5 - Junichi Masuda's Blog confirms the Bonding System:
"Never-before-seen Pokémon that will be discovered for the first time by people from across the globe.
Pokémon that are brought to life and look as if they are right in front you.
Stunningly dynamic Pokémon battles.
Breathtakingly beautiful visuals that take full advantage of the 3DS hardware's power.
An innovate communication system that will make you feel connected with players from around the world as you play the game.
A new battle mechanism that allows your Pokémon to become even more powerful when the bonds you share grow stronger.
A story and music that can be enjoyed by all.

Whether this is the player's first game, or if he or she is a veteran of the Pokémon series, our goal is to deliver genuine entertainment that will make all players smile, regardless of their age, gender, country, language, or culture.

The Pokémon series has always been more than just a game.
It's a series that brings people together, and encourages them to get excited and have fun as if they were at a festival.
That is why I wanted to achieve my long-time dream of a worldwide simultaneous release with these new entries to the series."

Hm, your theory sounds possible. I think I've found evidence for a Cosmic type though if a new type is added. :D Remember the scene in the trailer for the Sylveon short with the starry area? And the official site totes that the Kalos Region has a resemblance to a star. Deoxys recently has been getting a lot of attention, with the downloads and the card set, and Deoxys would of course be retyped as Cosmic if Cosmic type proves true. I'm sure there's other evidence too, but I've just been, well, casually observing the evidence rather than actually seeking it.
